Rusting Rarities
A pair of KD9 2-8-0s were dumped in the yard at Longtanshan for several years in the 1980s. Most of this class of 32 locos were built by ALCo or Baldwin around 1920 with the final few coming from Kawasaki in 1941. The KD9s were supposedly allocated to Shanghai Bureau but these two may have been transferred into industrial service in the Jilin area after being withdrawn from main line service. The locos were KD9.766 and KD9.780.
