Quarter Century
Few QJs survived much more than 20 years in front line service and there seemed to be a rule, possibly unofficial, that saw most locos withdrawn at around that age, irrespective of condition. Several of Hohhot Bureau's 1968-69 built locos made it to 25 years, including QJ 6009. The loco was photographed on Baotou Xi Depot on 7 January 1994, waiting to return to its home depot, Hohhot, with a main-line freight.
