Fifteen years before GWR adopted a drab green livery for all its trains, 47.816 was carrying an uncannily similar shade, nothing like the attractive two-tone green the class carried for their first few years of service.
The loco was photographed passing Washwood Heath with 1G27, the diverted 12:35 Euston - Wolverhampton service, including train engine 90.004, on 3 August 2003.
