Boston Steel

One of the last regular workings for DB's shrinking fleet of class 60s was transporting imported steel from Boston Docks to Wolverhampton. On 16 August 2023, 60017 worked the empties back to Toton running as 6E01, the 10:05 from Wolverhampton Steel Terminal, seen here passing Barrow upon Trent.

Unless miracles happen, this was my last photo of a DB class 60 at work. 60017 was stored around two months later and the Class worked its last trains for DB five months and one day later, the final workings being a loaded steel train from Boston, hauled as far as Toton by 60074 and the limestone empties from Northwich to Arpley worked by 60024, both of which arrived at their destinations around 22:30 on 17 January 2024.
