Running Early
Photographing southbound freights between Aberdeen and Stonehaven was like a trip back in time, to the days before every move was trackable on the internet. Freights leaving Aberdeen rarely reported until they reached Stonehaven and often ran early, leaving photographers in the dark as to what was happening until it happened. Getting to the spot early was a good policy.70.812 passed Newtonhill five minutes ahead of schedule with 6B32, the 16:52 Aberdeen Craiginches to Oxwellmains cement tanks, on 22 July 2019.
