Changing of the Guard
455710 and 455868 departed Reading with 2C66, the 19:39 to Waterloo, on 10 February 2025, passing 701025 waiting to follow with 5T92, the 20:01 crew training run to Clapham Yard Sidings. This was the first visit of a 701 to Reading that I was aware of, although a member of the crew informed me of at least one previous visit. If SWR's plans work out the 455s will soon be history, replaced by the 701s. Ironically, SWR may also be history by then as its franchise is due to be taken back into public ownership this year.
