Extended Sleeper
1B16, the 21:43 Caledonian Sleeper from Aberdeen, rarely consists of more than four coaches hauled by a single class 73/9 but on 29 October 2024 it had seven coaches and a Class 66 piloting the ED. The Fort William portion had been unable to run following a security incident at Dalmuir the previous night and some of the coaches had been sent to Aberdeen instead. The 66 arrived from Edinburgh during the day to pilot the return working. The ensemble is seen here passing Stonehaven where, unusually, it didn't stop.
