Marques De Aldama

Another shot of No.3 at Villablino on 2 January 1981. All the Baldwin tanks carried brass nameplates and No.3 was called "Marques de Aldama" after a local nobleman.
The tanks were originally unsuperheated slide valve engines but were soon rebuilt with superheaters and piston valves in order to reduce excessive coal consumption. The piston valve casing, mounted on the original valve chest, is clearly visible in the photo above.
