China

China is probably the most interesting country for railway enthusiasts today. Whether your preference is for working steam, big diesels, powerful electrics or high speed trains, China's got it. These galleries show everything from narrow gauge 0-8-0s deep in the forests of Heilongjiang to double headed QJs on Jingpeng Pass and from the ancient electrics at Fushun to big diesels on the main lines of northern China. There are almost 100 galleries, organised into categories such as location, loco class, type of operation etc.

Turkey

Turkey is a fascinating country with both European and Asian influences contributing to a unique culture. The railways are also the result of numerous foreign influences and in the last days of steam, locomotives from America, Belgium, Britain, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany and Sweden could be seen working side by side. The current scene is a lot more uniform with EMD products working most main line services. Most of my Turkish material is on film and will need to be scanned before it can appear here. In the meantime, here are a few digital images from a March 2006 trip.
