Line 751 Ulm - Friedrichshafen

The line south from Ulm to Friedrichshafen via Biberach and Ravensburg is known as the Südbahn, not to be confused with the Austrian Südbahn, and is double track and diesel worked. Some services are worked by DMUs but there are plenty of class 218 diesels on passengers and the occasional 232 or 294 on freight as well. The scenery isn’t spectacular but there are some very nice positions on the southern half of the line.

Line 742 Rottweil - Villingen

The Rottweil - Villingen line crosses the eastern fringes of the Black Forest, linking the Gäubahn with the Schwarzwaldbahn, running through scenery that’s pleasant rather than spectacular. The line is single track, unelectrified and carries only regional traffic, mainly worked by DMUs but with a loco hauled turn at weekends.
