The Heart of Darkness
Digital cameras are amazing tools that can turn the gloomiest scenes into acceptable pictures. That was just as well during my June 2007 visit when the weather was generally uncooperative. On a typically grim morning 755 001 and 755 002 dragged a late running Pn44235 up the gradient through a dull and drizzly Brezova u Broumova. The two class 755s are protoypes, rebuilt class 753s equipped with Caterpillar engines. They can usually be found working limestone trains from Nusice, near Praha, to Kadan but spent a few weeks on trial on the Mezimesti line in 2007.
