Vintage Electric

The opencast mine at Fushun dates back to the early years of the Japanese occupation and was electrified as early as the 1920s. No. 1156 was one of a class of Bo-Bo electrics introduced in 1929 and still in use over 50 years later. On 31 December 1984 it was photographed leaving Daguantun yard in Fushun with a freight. In addition to coal, the mine produces oil shale, hence the oil tanks.
