Loading Spoil
YJ 310 pushed its rake of side tippers under the spoil loader at Tangshan Colliery on 29 March 1988. Spoil was an inevitable by-product of the mining process, waste rock that had to be extracted in order to get to and remove the coal. It had to be disposed of somewhere and, as at Tangshan, that often that meant moving it by rail to a tipping site.
