Jixi Chengzihe Mining Railway

The silos and conveyors of Beichang washery dominate this view of SY 1018 walking its train forward under the loader on the afternoon of 5 March 2005. SYs don't have the sophisticated slow speed control systems fitted to modern diesel locos so it was down to the skill of the crew to keep the train crawling forward at a consistent slow speed during loading. A very impressive display of enginemanship given the weight of the train and the slippery rails.
