Under Repair
QJ 6355 in the workshops at Baotou Xi Depot on 12 April 1988. The front cowling has been partially removed to reveal the casing of the feedwater heater on top of the smokebox. The chimney petticoat is visible inside the smokebox and the cylinder covers and pistons have been removed. Note the cylinder covers on either side, each carried on a trolley specifically designed to aid removal and refitting.
