Concrete Castles
SY 0863 entered the Beichang washery complex with a train of coal hoppers from the mine at Dongchang on the afternoon of 5 March 2005. In the background, half finished silos and other colliery buildings tower over the train like a 20th century version of Conway Castle. While it may not be to everyone's taste, the industrial architecture at Beichang is very impressive and worthy of preservation as a reminder of China's industrial revolution.
