Steelworks JS
Baotou Steelworks had four 'industrial' JS Class 2-8-2s numbered JS 58001 to 58004. the 58 is thought to refer to their date of manufacture, 1958. The steelworks engines were unusual in that they retained their original appearance to the end while their sisters in CNR service had their looks altered by the removal of the long front steps and cab roof skylights amongst a number of changes over the years.JS 58002 visited one of the yards on the periphery of the steelworks site on the afternoon of 12 April 1988.
