East of Shidu
East of Shidu the terrain is particularly rugged and the Taiyuan - Beijing line leaves the main Juma Valley to run at right angles to a series of side valleys in the shadow of some very high mountains. In between the inevitable tunnels there are a number of impressive viaducts carrying the line high above the valley floors. DF4 4403 hauled an eastbound coal train across a high viaduct near Liudu on 2 October 2006.
