There were many coal mines around Tangshan and most had their own rail systems. These photos were taken at Tangshan Colliery, close to the centre of the city, in March 1988. The operation was notable for using YJ Class 2-6-2s, similar to but smaller than the ubiquitous SY class 2-8-2s, which were also there.
